Charlton Athletic Community Trust’s (CACT) annual Upbeats Walk fundraising event returns on Saturday April 25th ahead of Charlton Athletic’s final home game of the season against Hull City.

A group of Charlton fans and CACT supporters will be walking a nine-mile route from Charlton Athletic’s Training Ground in New Eltham to The Valley, all in aid of the Charlton Upbeats programme, and you can join them!

The Charlton Upbeats offers children and adults with Down’s syndrome the opportunity to play football in a safe and welcoming environment and has been running since 2008. The Upbeats have regular training sessions and take part in tournaments and competitions across the United Kingdom throughout the year.

Following confirmation from the EFL and Sky Sports on TV broadcast selections, the game will now kick off at the earlier time of 12:30pm, instead of the originally scheduled 3pm. The Upbeats Walk will still be going ahead as planned ahead of the game; however, due to the earlier kick-off time, there will be a few adjustments to the day:

  • Walkers will follow a shorter seven-mile route as one group, rather than the traditional nine-mile route in two groups
  • Free refreshments will be provided at the halfway point of the walk, instead of at The Valley
  • As the stadium fills up ahead of kick-off, walkers will cross the finish line pitchside at The Valley before heading straight to their seats to watch the game
  • The Upbeats fixture on the pitch at The Valley will now take place at half-time, rather than pre-match

Further details, including the confirmed route, a full itinerary for the day and information on food options, will be shared via email with walkers ahead of the event.

The programme is entirely funded by voluntary donations and your support is crucial in helping CACT to continue the programme in the future.

  • Maximum number of 200 attendees/fundraisers allowed
  • You will be supplied with a t-shirt and wristband upon registration and refreshments on the walk
  • Participants are personally responsible for preparing for all weather eventualities and are advised to pack suncream, rain jackets etc depending on the forecast
